We emphasize socialization and discuss "puppy topics" including puppy touch/massage, puppy behavior concerns (mouthing, chewing, jumping, barking), crating, potty training, grooming, nutrition, appropriate play & exercise, etc. We utilize positive reinforcement and use treats to motivate the puppies. K9 Elementary - $125 (prerequisite: 6 months & up) Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks and last 1 hour. 10 dog maximum. Covers all basic obedience manners including Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, as well as "Leave It," and "Easy," and "Quiet." This class is much more structured than the puppy class. The goal is to have the dogs not only learn what the commands are, but also to do them every time, regardless of what's going on in their environment (realized through the process of proofing). We also solve common behavior problems such as jumping up on people, pulling on the leash, and inappropriate mouthing & chewing. No dogs to the first class.

K9 College - $135 (prerequisite: K9 High School) Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks and last 1 hour. 8 dog maximum. Furthers the dogs' ability to execute the basic manners they've learned. Proofing is practiced with emphasis on good behavior in public (i.e., not jumping up on people, but instead sitting politely for petting, heeling through a crowd of people and dogs, etc.). We add many new distractions to challenge the dog. In this class, we begin to wean the dog off of the training collar and instead have him respond to our voice. Price includes AKC Canine Good Citizen Test (testing date scheduled with instructor after course completion). See what classes are available or sign up now!

K9 Grad School - $135 (prerequisite: K9 College) Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks and last 1 hour. 8 dog maximum. Here, we focus on extending the dog's listenning in the following ways: issuing manners at a distance, using hand signals, working off-leash, and polishing heel in progressively more difficult exercises. This class is somewhat athletic for both dog and owner: we do some jumping and some fast-paced heeling with sudden starts, stops, and turns. After completing this class, your dog should be quite well trained at home as well as in public and in the classroom. He should respond to voice and hand signal both at close range and at a distance, either on or off the leash. Please note: No dog is ever off leash in outdoor or in-the-park classes due to safety concerns. |

K9 Tricks Class - $135 (prerequisite: K9 Elementary) Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks and last 1 hour. 8 dog maximum. This is not obedience, it is tricks, and tricks are meant to be fun! We learn 3-5 new tricks per week in this class as your dog increases his repertoire of commandsthe manners they've already learned . It challenges the dog's mind and provides an excellent source of stimulation, exercise, and keeps him out of trouble doing positive behaviors instead of destructive ones. We learn such tricks as crawl, dead dog, balance the bone, high-five, jumping through hoops, roll over, and more! No dogs to the first class. See what classes are available or sign up now! |
